Dr Bourqui has been an active researcher in the area of atmospheric sciences since 1997. He completed his Ph.D. thesis at the ETHZ, Switzerland, in 2001. He then spent four years in post-doctoral fellowships at the University of Reading, UK, and at the ETHZ. From 2005 to 2012, he was a Professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, jointly with the Department of Chemistry, at McGill University, Canada. He then moved to Zurich, Switzerland, where he launched a consulting office to help create bridges between climate science and stakeholders and break down barriers of knowledge. His recent work led in particular to the foundation of the non-profit organization Climanosco in 2015, where he currently holds a position of president.

Dr Bourqui has given over 80 conferences and seminars to a broad spectrum of international audiences, including teachers, engineers, students, and scientists. He is author of over 30 publications in the scientific literature and beyond. He gave numerous interviews on TV, Radio and Newspapers. He acts as a reviewer for scientific journals. He has taught a dozen university-level semester courses.

Dr Bourqui is an expert in the science of atmospheric dynamics and chemistry, climate change and numerical modelling, and its communication to broad audiences.
